For the legion of DC Comics buffs intent on filling their personal Batcaves with collectibles inspired by this year’s big-screen superhero slugfest, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Hot Toys Knightmare Batman Sixth Scale Figure is a must-grab.
Inspired by the gritty, gun-toting depiction of the crime-fighter seen in the film during Bruce Wayne’s action-packed dream sequence, Hot Toys’ Knightmare Batman Sixth Scale Figure is as exhaustively realized as any figure that the company has produced. Even for collectors familiar with the level of detail typical of the Hot Toys’ Movie Masterpiece Series, this all-new Batman is still jaw dropping. The figure features a suitably brawny physique with over thirty points of articulation throughout the legs, torso, arms, and neck. In addition, the figure comes with six interchangeable hands, a cowled head sculpt, and trio of swappable facial portraits (with a handy change-out tool) that capture the likeness of actor, Ben Affleck, with uncanny fidelity.
As remarkable as its underlying build is, the costume of Hot Toys’ Knightmare Batman Sixth Scale Figure is also certain to impress. In addition to the molded gauntlets, boots, knee-pads and cowl, the roughly 12.5-inch tall figure features cloth fatigue trousers, cloth scarves (one to be worn around the neck, and another to cover the lower face), removable goggles (with an elastic band), utility belt, right-leg holster, and a malleable, lifelike Batsuit covering the torso. Draped on top is a realistically weathered, faux-leather overcoat that completes the screen-accurate look of the ensemble. As awesome as the figure’s guise is, the tight tolerances to which it’s built and its delicate components limit the range of poses that can be achieved without risking damage to it. However, given the figure’s authentic and painstakingly crafted aesthetic, it’s an acceptable trade-off.
The Hot Toys Knightmare Batman Sixth Scale Figure comes packing a healthy cache of accessories. In addition to wearable binoculars with a cloth strap, Batman comes packing a pistol, and 5.5-inch assault rifle complete with a folding stock (with a Joker card taped to it), and a leather-like sling. Rounding out the list of extras is a two-piece, adjustable figure stand fashioned to resemble the Batman v Superman movie logo and a character nameplate.
Originally released in North America exclusively via Sideshow Collectibles, Hot Toys’ “2016 Toy Fair Exclusive” Knightmare Batman began shipping in July of this year at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $234.99 USD.
