Sideshow Collectibles’ Luke Skywalker: Red Five X-Wing Pilot Sixth Scale Figure is a stellar depiction of the Rebel Alliance’s Force-empowered ace flyer that’s certain to resonate with fans of the original Star Wars trilogy.
As legions of fans get set to head to theaters to learn the story behind the construction of the original Death Star in the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Sideshow’s Luke Skywalker: Red Five X-Wing Pilot Sixth Scale Figure stands as a timeless homage to the young moisture farmer who brought about its ultimate destruction in Episode IV: A New Hope. Like other sixth scale entries in Sideshow’s ever-expanding lineup of Star Wars collectibles (including R2-D2; Luke and Han in Hoth gear; and the recently reviewed Imperial AT-AT Driver), Red Five Luke impressively flaunts the company’s trademark craftmanship. The fully articulated figure stands approximately 11.5-inches tall and boasts a build, head sculpt, and portrait that recreate the likeness of a young Mark Hamill with convincing accuracy.
Adding to the authentic look of Sideshow’s Luke Skywalker: Red Five X-Wing Pilot Sixth Scale Figure is the painstakingly crafted costume. The cloth outfit includes the familiar multi-pocketed orange flight suit, chest-mounted life support unit (complete with hoses and fabric straps), flak vest, cylinder band (which happens to be on the Luke’s left leg as opposed to the right leg, as seen in Episode IV), and a pair of leather-like boots. Additional trappings include data cylinders, signal flares, and Luke’s signature helmet. Along with its distinctive Rebel insignia, the latter features a built-in comlink, flip-up/flip-down visor and a three-part assembly that allows collectors to easily display Luke with his headgear on or off. For those collectors fortunate enough to snag the Sideshow Exclusive variant, the package also includes an additional set of ungloved hands and molded bunched gloves to vary the appearance. Rounding out the list of standard accessories is an adjustable figure stand (with a six-sided display base resembling the deck of the Rebel base on Yavin 4).
Sideshow’s Luke Skywalker: Red Five X-Wing Pilot Sixth Scale Figure deserves a place in the collection of every Star Wars fan. The craveable collectible began shipping in November of 2015 at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $239.99 USD.
