While there’s no shortage of action figures based on Tony Stark’s super-powered assortment of suits, Comicave Studios’ Iron Man Mark XLIII stands out as an exceptionally crafted and feature-packed collectible that Marvel buffs should make every effort to add to their personal halls of armor.

Inspired by the crimson and gold armor variant that appeared in 2015’s, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Comicave’s depiction of the Iron Man Mark XLIII is a close match to its full-sized onscreen counterpart. While the elegant iPhone-like packaging that it comes in screams premium quality, it’s not until the figure is removed from its confines that its distinctive combination of special features can be appreciated. Once in-hand, the relative heft of the Iron Man Mark XLIII is immediately apparent. Like other pieces in Comicave’s one-twelfth scale “Omni Class” collection, the 6.25-inch tall (quarter pound plus) Iron Man Mark XLIII figure is composed of 75% die-cast metal (in the arms, legs, and chest) which gives it a dense, sturdy feel as well as a genuine metallic luster.

The extra mass of the Iron Man Mark XLIII certainly doesn’t hinder its poseability as the figure features over 20 points of articulation throughout the body including an extendable torso and leg joints, as well as adjustable flaps and armor panels. Adding to the poseability are five sets of interchangeable hands, change-out forearm and shoulder missile launchers, and a set of molded repulsor blast accessories that fit into each hand and foot for a dynamic display.

Despite the already impressive list of options, the linchpin feature of Comicave’s Iron Man Mark XLIII is the built-in illumination. With the flip of a small discreet switch on the upper back, LEDs in the figure’s eyes and chest (arc reactor) light up as they do on the big screen. Unfortunately, the hands and feet didn’t get LED treatment. Comicave’s overall effort is impressive nonetheless given how small, feature-rich, and inexpensive the figure is compared to similar Iron Man collectibles.

Comicave’s Iron Man Mark XLIII figure is a stunning addition the portfolio of a company that has made a name for itself by consistently delivering movie-accurate figures that are both highly poseable and loaded with options. The figure joins an equally remarkable line-up of one-twelfth scale pieces inspired by Tony Stark’s creations, including the gargantuan Hulkbuster Mark XLIV, as well as the Igor Mark XXXVIII, Shades Mark XXIII, Blue Steel XXX, and others from Iron Man 3.

Marvel superhero fanatics intent on adding Comicave Studios’ Iron Man Mark XLIII to their collections can find the craveable import figure available online at prices that typically range between $100 and $150 USD.
