    Inside Kotobukiya Akihabarakan Part II: DC Comics SuperheroesKotobukiya Akihabarakan is a must-visit destination for superhero aficionados at large in the Tokyo metropolitan area. A welcoming landmark amongst the glittering mélange of “Electric Town’s” sights and sounds, Kotobukiya’s five-story retail space is teeming with an enticing assortment of action figures, statues, and licensed souvenirs to buy or browse.

    In of our recent look inside Kotobukiya Akihabarakan we focused on the store’s massive and ever-changing Star Wars showcase. Now, in Part II, we’ve shifted the spotlight to what the shop has to offer for the legion of DC Comics superhero fans and collectors that are fortunate enough to venture past its threshold.

    Once inside Kotobukiya Akihabarakan, DC fans will have to make their way through a variety of special shops and displays. The first floor is home to shops dedicated to Yotsuba & Danboard, developer Arc System Works’ popular video games (including BlazBlue and Guilty Gear) and Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise. On the second floor guests will find “Giburi’s Goods” (plush toys and gardening items) and collectibles based on the “Tales of…” RPG series. The theme of the third floor is anime with statues and figures (inspired by the Kantai Collection, Sword Art Online, and others) including Kotobukiya’s distinctive Bishoujo line. Once visitors finally reach Kotobukiya Akihabarakan’s fourth floor (and negotiate past the sprawling Star Wars display), shoppers will find an eye-watering assemblage of figures, toys, and gifts inspired by DC’s comic book and cinematic universes. In addition to pieces from Kotobukiya’s sizable line-up of plastic model kits, ARTFX, standard and classically styled “Super Powers” ARTFX+ figures, and Fine Art statues, collectors will find licensed pieces from manufacturers that include Square Enix’s (Play Arts Kai) and others.

    A short walk from the nearby JR Akihabara train station, statue and action figure collectors should be certain to spend some time at Kotobukiya Akihabarakan.
