For hardcore fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s metal-clad icon looking for the ultimate showpiece, Hot Toys’ Iron Man Mark XLVI Life-Size Figure should fit the bill. During a visit to Hot Toys’ flagship Tokyo retail shop in Harajuku, Toy Sapiens, we had the opportunity to get our hands on (well, near) the colossal 1:1-scale Iron Man collectible and walked away with an up close and personal look at the screen-accurate mockup as relatively few have before.
At well over six feet tall (not including the pedestal), Hot Toys Iron Man Mark XLVI Life-Size Figure is immediately striking. Once in the shadow the momentous collectible, it’s evident that it has more to offer than just lofty dimensions. It’s also clear that Hot Toys’ creative team went to great lengths to recreate the look of the forty-sixth variant of Tony Stark’s ever-expanding line-up of metal suits as seen in Captain America: Civil War. Not surprisingly, the detail is impressive. The Iron Man Mark XLVI features intricate faux metallic contours with a lustrous red finish complete with gold and grey accents. It’s all masterfully sculpted, beautifully painted and sure to satisfy discerning collectors. Adding to the overall presentation, the Iron Man Mark XLVI Life-Size Figure comes with a black cylindrical display stand emblazoned with the Captain America: Civil War logo.
Boasting ambitious proportions and movie-accurate accouterments, it’s no surprise that owning the Hot Toys Iron Man Mark XLVI Life-Size Figure won’t be accomplished cheaply. While we didn’t see a price tag, similar life-size figures, by Sideshow Collectibles bear retail prices in the $8,000 range. It’s no doubt that Hot Toys’ attention-grabbing collectible will be a pricey acquisition for devoted Marvel collectors intent on building their personal 1:1 “Halls of Armor”.
