For fans of the ever-expanding DC Comics cinematic universe, Hot Toys’ Armored Batman (Black Chrome Version) Sixth Scale Figure is apt to be as irresistibbly compelling as the Bat-Signal in the skies of Gotham City. Inspired by 2016’s, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, this Sideshow Collectibles exclusive boasts a unique black faux-metallic finish, which distinguishes it from the standard armored edition (seen onscreen) while making it a fetching prize for the throng of devoted DC superhero collectors.
Beyond the slick paint job, Hot Toys’ Armored Batman (Black Chrome Version) Sixth Scale Figure is another wildly detailed addition to the company’s Movie Masterpiece Series (MMS) of collectibles. Joining Hot Toys’ Dawn of Justice lineup (which includes Knightmare Batman, Superman, and others) this special version of Batman features a spot-on depiction of the gritty, gun-toting, and heavily armored vigilante decked-out to square off against the preterhuman Son of Krypton.
Even for collectors familiar with Hot Toys’ level of craftsmanship, the Armored Batman (Black Chrome Version) Sixth Scale Figure exhibits a staggering level of detail. The weighty figure stands just over thirteen inches tall and features a burly physique with over thirty points of articulation throughout the legs, torso, arms, and neck. In addition, the figure comes with seven swappable hands (five rights and two lefts), a cowled head sculpt with battery-powered LED-illuminated eyes, and two interchangeable facial portraits that faithfully capture the likeness of actor, Ben Affleck (well, his lower jaw, that is).
As remarkable as its underlying build is, the costume of Hot Toys’ Armored Batman (Black Chrome Version) Scale Figure is also certain to impress. The crime-fighter’s ensemble consists of a textured fabric bodysuit, cloth torso strap, utility belt, tailored cape, and lustrous black chrome painted leg and torso armor, boots, and forearm gauntlets. As well-made as the figure’s outfit is, the tight tolerances to which it’s built and the delicate straps, clasps, and components limit the figure’s range of motion, making extensive manipulation potentially risky for collectors intent on dynamically posing it. However, given the figure’s authentic and meticulously crafted aesthetic, the constraints of the costume is a tolerable compromise.
The Hot Toys Armored Batman (Black Chrome Version) comes packing several notable accessories including a grapple gun, grenade launcher (with two grenades) and an adjustable three-piece figure stand with a five-sided display pedestal featuring the Batman v Superman logo and Armored Batman and movie nameplates.
Originally released in North America exclusively via Sideshow Collectibles, Hot Toys’ Armored Batman (Black Chrome Version) Sixth Scale Figure began shipping in November 2016 at the manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $249.99 USD.
